ICETECH 10
has received over 60 abstracts---enough to start the programme
assembly—but at the request of numerous colleagues we are
extending the abstract deadline by one month to March 20. Those
who have submitted by February 20 have the advantage of early
acceptance and extra time for manuscript preparation, and we are
thankful for their timeliness allowing us to begin the
preliminary programme.
Otherwise, this
international conference and exhibition on ships and structures
in ice, to be held in Anchorage, Alaska, from September 20 to
23, 2010, is continues to proceed at full steam! Venues are
booked, registration and reservations are on line, abstracts are
coming in, and the social program including tours is in
preparation. We have several sponsors (as seen on this website),
exhibitors, and more are planning to sign up.
ICETECH 10
is a non profit conference organized by the Arctic Section of
the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME)
together this time with Alaska’s Institute of the North. It is
the premiere international conference on ships and structures in
ice. The conference will take place in Anchorage starting with
an opening icebreaker reception on the evening of Monday,
September 20, and concluding in the late afternoon on Thursday
September 23. If you haven’t already, you can still join in this
exciting event through technical paper presentation, exhibition,
delegate and accompanying person attendance, or sponsorship
participation or all of the above.

Over 60 abstracts
have now been reviewed and accepted, and the preliminary program is being developed.
However, the ICETECH Papers Committee still welcomes new
abstracts. If you have not already submitted an abstract,
please get your abstract in right away, and no later than Marcvh
20! Please note that the
final "Publication Copy Deadline” date is firm, so authors should send in
their material as early as feasible for a quicker turnaround.
Abstract and paper manuscript forms are available under the “conference” tab
and on this home page.
You can register online for the
conference, accommodation, and tours.
The theme of the
conference is "Performance of Ships and Structures in Ice"
but we are including the hot topics of global warming,
geopolitics, and future expectations for the Arctic through
participation of
Arctic Marine Shipping
Assessment (AMSA) and other
expert groups, including those dealing with some of Alaska's
specific ice conditions.
We are holding the
conference at a very scenic location in the heart of Alaska,
and is
fully serviced at the well-known five star Hotel Captain Cook.
Take advantage of opportunities to tour Anchorage and local cultural centres, as well
as more extended tours to various spectacular natural locations.
At our venue, all conference and exhibition, accommodations,
recreation, and dining facilities are provided, while still
affording plenty of opportunity for tours before and after the
conference and for accompanying persons during the conference.
Check out the available tours!
Please get those
manuscripts to us!
On behalf of
the Organizing Committee of ICETECH 10, we send our best
regards, and look forward to your participation!
